District Bowls

Tura Beach was represented by our 2010 Club Champion Eric Maddern in the Champion of Champions Singles at Merimbula on Saturday, July 24. Eric was eliminated in the Semi Final by Phil Burns 26/31 in a hard fought match.

Once again it was great to see the support Eric received from our club with 20 plus members in attendance for the Semi Finals making up over 50% of the spectators although Merimbula, Tathra and Eden all had bowlers playing in the event.

Sunday's final went to Jamie Reynolds of Tathra defeating Phil Burns.

Club Bowls

Round one of the Club Triples commenced on Thursday July 22 with two matches, Don Fergusson, Marty and Ross Orsborn playing Trevor Mort, Kevin West and Terry Och, and Tony Sawkins, Peter Hamer and Eric Joslin, playing Alan Buckley, Bob Hart and John O'Donnell.

After end 20 Ross's team led 21/14 and were travelling easy until, with the hottest of finishers, due to some great bowling by Terry, his team took the last the last 5 ends scoring 12 shots to win 26/21.

Eric's team started strongly to lead 14/5 after end 10 before a 5 on the next end lifted John's team to level the match on end 13 at 14/14. With John's team leading 24/20 a 4 on end 23 sealed the match when Eric's team could only manage 1 shot on end 24 going down 21/28.

The two remaining Round 1 matches were played on Sunday, July 25 with Don Pope, Lance Lamond and Graham Burton playing Tony Shaw, Eric Maddern and Mike Reynolds, and Kel Duncombe, Les Firth and Russell Cook playing David Lewis Peter Wells and Jack Findlay.

Graham's team got off to a flying start to lead 18/6 after end 12 before in a remarkable run Mike's team reduced the lead to 20/18 after end 19. However, Graham's team responded with a 5 on end 20 to re-establish a 7 shot lead and go on to win the match 29/24.

Russell's team established a commanding lead 20/11 after end 18 before some great bowls by Jack reduced the score to 20/17 with 3 ends to play. However, Russell's team steadied to win the remaining ends to win 25/17.

Once again it was great to see the support Eric received from our club with 20 plus members in attendance for the Semi Finals making up over 50% of the spectators although Merimbula, Tathra and Eden all had bowlers playing in the event.

Once again it was great to see the support Eric received from our club with 20 plus members in attendance for the Semi Finals making up over 50% of the spectators although Merimbula, Tathra and Eden all had bowlers playing in the event.

Graham's team got off to a flying start to lead 18/6 after end 12 before in a remarkable run Mike's team reduced the lead to 20/18 after end 19. However, Graham's team responded with a 5 on end 20 to re-establish a 7 shot lead and go on to win the match 29/24.

Russell's team established a commanding lead 20/11 after end 18 before some great bowls by Jack reduced the score to 20/17 with 3 ends to play. However, Russell's team steadied to win the remaining ends to win 25/17.

The monthly IGA day resulted in a win to Les Rizzetti, Bill Rogers and Campbell Connal with 2+11. Tony Sawkins, Peter Hamer and Eric Joslin were runners up on 2+10. The single game winners were Tony Schell, Ken Gray and Terry Dawes on 1+9.

TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 412

District Bowls

Tura Beach was represented by our 2010 Club Champion Eric Maddern in the Champion of Champions Singles at Merimbula on Saturday, July 24. Eric was eliminated in the Semi Final by Phil Burns 26/31 in a hard fought match.

Once again it was great to see the support Eric received from our club with 20 plus members in attendance for the Semi Finals making up over 50% of the spectators although Merimbula, Tathra and Eden all had bowlers playing in the event.

Sunday's final went to Jamie Reynolds of Tathra defeating Phil Burns.

Club Bowls

Round one of the Club Triples commenced on Thursday July 22 with two matches, Don Fergusson, Marty and Ross Orsborn playing Trevor Mort, Kevin West and Terry Och, and Tony Sawkins, Peter Hamer and Eric Joslin, playing Alan Buckley, Bob Hart and John O'Donnell.

After end 20 Ross's team led 21/14 and were travelling easy until, with the hottest of finishers, due to some great bowling by Terry, his team took the last the last 5 ends scoring 12 shots to win 26/21.

Eric's team started strongly to lead 14/5 after end 10 before a 5 on the next end lifted John's team to level the match on end 13 at 14/14. With John's team leading 24/20 a 4 on end 23 sealed the match when Eric's team could only manage 1 shot on end 24 going down 21/28.

The two remaining Round 1 matches were played on Sunday, July 25 with Don Pope, Lance Lamond and Graham Burton playing Tony Shaw, Eric Maddern and Mike Reynolds, and Kel Duncombe, Les Firth and Russell Cook playing David Lewis Peter Wells and Jack Findlay.
