TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 412
Club Bowls Winter Carnival
Week two of our 24th Winter Carnival commenced with the Mixed Pairs (2) on Monday 12. Noel and Barb Gribbin swamped the field winning all six matches for 12 points and a shot margin of +60. In second place were Val and Ken Edwards on 10 points and a shot margin of +41 just shading Pam and Jamie Reynolds on 10 points and a shot margin of +39.
The Carnival's premier event, the Mixed Fours played over Wednesday, Thursday and Friday rounded off an extremely successful two weeks of winter bowling for our club with full fields and great weather throughout. And fittingly, the tightest finish of the Carnival saw the top four teams, all from Tura, with 10 points from 5 wins, taking the results to a shots up count back for all placing's.
Sue and Don Pope teamed with Teresa and Peter Hamer winning on a shot margin of +54, from Carole Criddle, Shirley Sunderland, Pat Quigley and Jack Findlay +46 and Jan and Eric Joslin, and Val and Ken Edwards +44.
On the social side Thursday's Carnival Dinner, another successful event in its own right, was attended by over 100 members and visitors. The first prize in the Carnival raffle went to one of the Tura Lady members, Helen Horton. When asked by one of the Tura Ladies if she could drink all the massive bottle of scotch herself Helen replied she intended to give it a good try.
District Bowls
The play offs for the District Champion of Champion Pairs were played over Saturday and Sunday July 17/18 at Merimbula. The Tura team of Bill Gilligan (sub for Russell Cook) and Les Firth won their first match but eliminated in the second round.

The next event on the Club calendar, the Club Triples gets underway with round one on Thursday, July 22.
