Winter Carnival

The 2010 Winter Carnival kicked off on Friday, July 2 with the pre Carnival barbeque. Over 100 bowlers being present either playing bowls or just enjoying the social side of the day or both. It is great to welcome back to Tura so many bowling friends on their annual pilgrimage.

 

Alf Penglase, Bob Hart, Pam Fry and Jack Findlay won the day with a margin of +26. Runners up with a margin of +22 were Marty Orsborn, R Chambers, Nick Vaughan and P Cousens. The draw for the losers prize went to Lyn Steele, Don Fergusson, I Trupke and Kel Duncombe.

 

The Carnival proper got off to a great start on Monday, July 5 with a perfect winters morning for day one of the Lady's Pairs.

 

After day one with three rounds completed, four teams remained undefeated on 6 points. Leading the field were Daphnia Nagle and Dorothy Campbell with a margin of 32 shots from Margaret Barr and Pam Reynolds on +28.4, Bev Whitside and Terees Hamer +18 and G Savill and J Smith +12.

 

De-Amalgamation

The response to the Steering Committee's request for members to assist in the De-Amalgamation processes resulted in some very well qualified and experienced

Bowling and Golfing members offering their services.

 

Social Bowls

Due to computer problems and a lost score card, now put right, there was no Bowls Report last week. I apologise for the delay and have listed the results below.

 

Wednesday June 16

The runners up in the IGA Day event were Alf Penglase, K Gahelitner and G Gurney.

 

Wednesday June 23

Barry Phipps, Don Fergusson and Stewart Rothacker won with 21 points from Arthur Stove, Nick Vaughan and Peter Wells on 19 points.

 

Friday June 25

The Nominated Pairs went to John and Joan Jesina on 2+20. Runners up with 2+6 were M Cisiln and Peter Wells, with Barbara and Clem Cooper with 1+17 the single game winners.

 

Wednesday June 30

Ron Henkel, K Doherty and David Manovski won on count back with 20 points from Trevor Mort and Mike Reynolds runners.
