Pennant Bowls

Grades 3, 4 and 7 played host to Eden, Bombala and Candelo respectively on Sunday, March 14. With grade 5 heading south to take on Eden.

 

The results were:-

Grade 3, Tura Beach 0 points 51 shots, lost to Eden 6 points 70 shots. Kel Duncombe, Pat Quigley, Graham Burton and Ken Edwards lost 12/22. David Lewis, Lance Lamond, Mike Reynolds and Campbell Connal lost 18/26. Les Firth, Vic Finlay, Eric Maddern and Russell Cook lost 21//22.

 

Grades 4, 2 points 61 shots lost to Bombala grade 5, 4 point 66 shots, Trevor Mort , Alan Rowlinson, Terry Jackson and Roger Hayes won 28/18   Dennis Vaughan, Rob Pearsall, Peter Wells and Jack Findlay won 22/18. Hans Pynenburg, Kevin West, Stewart Walsh and Terry Och lost 11/30.

Veterans Singles

The second round of the District Veterans Singles played at Eden on Friday, March 12 produced mixed results for Tura with Eric Joslin loosing 15/25, Terry Jackson winning 25/6 and Roger Hayes and Ted Young both receiving forfeits. Round 3 is set to be played next Friday March 19.

 

Veterans Pairs

In round 1 matches at Bega on Tuesday, March 9 Trevor Mort and Barry Brown won 22/17, Pat Quigley and Eric Maddern won 18/9, while Eric Joslin and Lance Lamond, and Les Rizzetti and Bill Daniels received byes.

Round 1 of the Presidents Pairs was played at Eden on Saturday, March 13.Tura continued its strong representation in this event fielding 9 of the 16 teams entered.

Four of the five Tura Pairs entered in this event, played at Tura on Saturday, March 13, have progressed to the second round with Peter Wells and Mike Reynolds winning 25/23, Kel Duncombe and Ken Edwards winning 32/9, Roger Hayes and Graham Burton winning 26/16 and Les Firth and Eric Maddern receiving a bye. The only team eliminated was Pat Quigly and Russell Cook going down 14/19.

The Encouragement Singles got underway with one first round and three second and one third round matches being decided.

 

The round one match went to Marty Orsborn 31/27over Peter Tucker. Marty staged a great come back. Being down 27/11 after end 20 he won the next 8 ends to take the match.

 

In second round matches Kel Duncombe defeated Alan Robins 31/6, Ross Davies defeated Alan Buckley 32/14 and Norm Hamilton defeated Marty Orsborn 31/22. The fourth match produced another big comeback when Ted Young being down 13/26 after end 22 won 8 of the next 9 ends to lead Terry Brooks 30/29. However to his credit Terry kept his cool scoring 2 shots on the last end to win the match 31/30.

The Men's Triples went to Tony Sawkins, Vic Finlay and David Manovski with 21 points. Runners up with 19 points were Arthur Stove, Hane Pynenburg and Peter Wells.

The second round of the District Veterans Singles played at Eden on Friday, March 12 produced mixed results for Tura with Eric Joslin loosing 15/25, Terry Jackson winning 25/6 and Roger Hayes and Ted Young both receiving forfeits. Round 3 is set to be played next Friday March 19.

In round 1 matches at Bega on Tuesday, March 9 Trevor Mort and Barry Brown won 22/17, Pat Quigley and Eric Maddern won 18/9, while Eric Joslin and Lance Lamond, and Les Rizzetti and Bill Daniels received byes.

Round 1 of the Presidents Pairs was played at Eden on Saturday, March 13.Tura continued its strong representation in this event fielding 9 of the 16 teams entered.

In round 1 results, Bob Hart and Ron Stevens defeated Don Pope and Neil Clough 22/11. Barry Rayner and Peter Evans lost 15/22. Ross Davies and Barry Rusling lost 19/22. Four of the five Tura Pairs entered in this event, played at Tura on Saturday, March 13, have progressed to the second round with Peter Wells and Mike Reynolds winning 25/23, Kel Duncombe and Ken Edwards winning 32/9, Roger Hayes and Graham Burton winning 26/16 and Les Firth and Eric Maddern receiving a bye. The only team eliminated was Pat Quigly and Russell Cook going down 14/19.

The Encouragement Singles got underway with one first round and three second and one third round matches being decided.

 

The round one match went to Marty Orsborn 31/27over Peter Tucker. Marty staged a great come back. Being down 27/11 after end 20 he won the next 8 ends to take the match.

 

In second round matches Kel Duncombe defeated Alan Robins 31/6, Ross Davies defeated Alan Buckley 32/14 and Norm Hamilton defeated Marty Orsborn 31/22. The fourth match produced another big comeback when Ted Young being down 13/26 after end 22 won 8 of the next 9 ends to lead Terry Brooks 30/29. However to his credit Terry kept his cool scoring 2 shots on the last end to win the match 31/30.

Daphne Nagle and Dorothy Campbell won the Nominated Pairs with 2+4 from Hans Pynenburg and Pat Quigley on 2+3. Kel Duncombe and Roger Hayes were the single game winners with a big 1+23 margin.

Grades 3, 4 and 7 played host to Eden, Bombala and Candelo respectively on Sunday, March 14. With grade 5 heading south to take on Eden.

 

The results were:-
