TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 393

 

Pennant Bowls

Round three of the 2010 pennant series saw grades 3, 4 and 5 all playing at home with grade 7 playing Bega at Bega.

 

The results were:-

Grade 3, Tura Beach 2 points 53, lost to Bega (3) 5 points 61 shots. Kel Duncombe, Pat Quigley, Ken Edwards and Graham Burton lost 15/19.Hans Pynenburg, Lance Lamond, Mike Reynolds and Campbell Connal won 25/21. Les Firth, Vic Finlay, Eric Maddern and Russell Cook lost 13/21.

 

Grades 4 and 5 played each other with Tura Beach grade 4, 5 points 61 shots defeating Tura Beach grade 5, 1 point 46 shots.

 

Grade 4 team results, Ron Henkel, John Jesina, Terry Jackson and Roger Hayes won 22/13. Dennis Vaughan, Rob Pearsall, Peter Wells and Jack Findlay lost 18/15. Eric Joslin, Kevin West, Stewart Walsh and Terry Och won 24/15.

 

Grade 5 team results, Trevor Mort, Don Pope, Barry Brown and Ross Orsborn lost 15/24. Tony Shaw, Ray Heron, Steve Davies and Dave Manovski won 18/15., Stewart Rothacker Peter Hamer, Joe Bradshaw and Neil Clough lost 13/22.

 

Grade 7, Tura Beach 5 points 74 shots defeated Bega 1 point 52 shots. Bill Gilligan, John O'Donnell, Don Fergusson and Bruce Jeffries won 25/12. Ross Davies, Bob Hart, Ron Stevens and Les Rizzetti won 28/15. Alan Buckley, Graham McGrath-Smith, Graeme O,Donnell and Barry Rusling lost 21/25.

 

Next weeks round 4 matches are, grade 3 play Merimbula (2) at Merimbula, grades 4 play Eden at Eden, grade 5 play Merimbula at Tura and grade 7  play Merimbula at Merimbula.

 

District Bowls

The second and third rounds of the District Triples were played at Tura Beach on Saturday, February 27 with 7 Tura teams still in the running.

 

Unfortunately, Tura teams clashed in two of the second round matches with Lance Lamond's team defeating Bruce Jeffries's team and Campbell Connal's team defeated Roger Hayes's team. In other matches Eric Maddern's team won while Jack Findlay's and Graham Burton's teams were eliminated.

 

Again the afternoon's third round produced another Tura clash with Eric Maddern's team defeating Campbell Connal's and Lance Lamond's being defeated.

 

We wish our last remaining team of Les Firth, Mike Reynolds and Eric Maddern good luck in Saturday's matches.

 

Club Bowls

Something new in our social bowls the Nominated Pairs played in the 2 set + tie breaker form got underway on Tuesday afternoon, February 23 proving very popular. An entry form is on the board for these matches, so why not give it a try?

The final of the Club Veteran's Singles played on Thursday, February 25 went to Eric Maddern convincingly defeating David Lewis, who had won the event the last two years, 25/14 after 22 ends.

 

Eric started in top gear leading 22/9 after 15 ends before David won 5 of the last 7 ends to reduce the margin.

The Men's triples went to Ross Davies, John O'Donnell and Ross Orsborn with 24 points, giving them a comfortable 4 points margin over the runners up, after a three way count back, Trevor Mort, Don Pope and Jack Findlay.

 

Friday February 26

The Nominated Pairs resulted in "all family" results with Wilma and Barry Rusling the outright winners on 2+18. Runners up on 2+5 were Nancy and Joe Bradshaw. And Marty and Ross Orsborn the single game winners with1+9.

The final of the Club Veteran's Singles played on Thursday, February 25 went to Eric Maddern convincingly defeating David Lewis, who had won the event the last two years, 25/14 after 22 ends.

 

Eric started in top gear leading 22/9 after 15 ends before David won 5 of the last 7 ends to reduce the margin.

The Men's triples went to Ross Davies, John O'Donnell and Ross Orsborn with 24 points, giving them a comfortable 4 points margin over the runners up, after a three way count back, Trevor Mort, Don Pope and Jack Findlay.

 

Friday February 26

The Nominated Pairs resulted in "all family" results with Wilma and Barry Rusling the outright winners on 2+18. Runners up on 2+5 were Nancy and Joe Bradshaw. And Marty and Ross Orsborn the single game winners with1+9.

Pennant Bowls

Round three of the 2010 pennant series saw grades 3, 4 and 5 all playing at home with grade 7 playing Bega at Bega.

 

The results were:-

Grade 3, Tura Beach 2 points 53, lost to Bega (3) 5 points 61 shots. Kel Duncombe, Pat Quigley, Ken Edwards and Graham Burton lost 15/19.Hans Pynenburg, Lance Lamond, Mike Reynolds and Campbell Connal won 25/21. Les Firth, Vic Finlay, Eric Maddern and Russell Cook lost 13/21.

 

Grades 4 and 5 played each other with Tura Beach grade 4, 5 points 61 shots defeating Tura Beach grade 5, 1 point 46 shots.

 

Grade 4 team results, Ron Henkel, John Jesina, Terry Jackson and Roger Hayes won 22/13. Dennis Vaughan, Rob Pearsall, Peter Wells and Jack Findlay lost 18/15. Eric Joslin, Kevin West, Stewart Walsh and Terry Och won 24/15.

 

Grade 5 team results, Trevor Mort, Don Pope, Barry Brown and Ross Orsborn lost 15/24. Tony Shaw, Ray Heron, Steve Davies and Dave Manovski won 18/15., Stewart Rothacker Peter Hamer, Joe Bradshaw and Neil Clough lost 13/22.

 

Grade 7, Tura Beach 5 points 74 shots defeated Bega 1 point 52 shots. Bill Gilligan, John O'Donnell, Don Fergusson and Bruce Jeffries won 25/12. Ross Davies, Bob Hart, Ron Stevens and Les Rizzetti won 28/15. Alan Buckley, Graham McGrath-Smith, Graeme O,Donnell and Barry Rusling lost 21/25.

 

Next weeks round 4 matches are, grade 3 play Merimbula (2) at Merimbula, grades 4 play Eden at Eden, grade 5 play Merimbula at Tura and grade 7  play Merimbula at Merimbula.

 

District Bowls

The second and third rounds of the District Triples were played at Tura Beach on Saturday, February 27 with 7 Tura teams still in the running.

 

Unfortunately, Tura teams clashed in two of the second round matches with Lance Lamond's team defeating Bruce Jeffries's team and Campbell Connal's team defeated Roger Hayes's team. In other matches Eric Maddern's team won while Jack Findlay's and Graham Burton's teams were eliminated.

 

Again the afternoon's third round produced another Tura clash with Eric Maddern's team defeating Campbell Connal's and Lance Lamond's being defeated.

 

We wish our last remaining team of Les Firth, Mike Reynolds and Eric Maddern good luck in Saturday's matches.

Something new in our social bowls the Nominated Pairs played in the 2 set + tie breaker form got underway on Tuesday afternoon, February 23 proving very popular. An entry form is on the board for these matches, so why not give it a try?
