TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 392

 

Pennant Bowls

Round one of the 2010 pennant series was again affected by rain. The only Tura team to play was the grade 5 side who travelled to Bombala.

 

The results were Trevor Mort, Don Pope, Barry Rusling and Ross Orsborn won 17/16. Tony Sawkins, Ray Heron, Steve Davies and Dave Manovski lost 19/24. And Don Fergusson, Joe Bradshaw, Stewart Walsh and Peter Hamer lost 6/32.

 

Overall score Bombala 5 points defeated Tura 1 point, 72 shots to 42.

 

The other three matches, grade 3 playing Merimbula, grade 4 playing Bega and grade 7 playing Tathra have been deferred until later in the series.

 

In round two next week grade3 will play Tathra (2) at Tura, grade 4 will play Merimbula (5) away, grade 5 will play Bega at Tura and grade7 will play Eden at Tura.

 

Club Bowls

The Veterans Singles Semi Finals with Jack Findlay playing Eric Maddern and David Lewis playing Roger Hayes were set down to be played on Thursday, February 11. However, David and Roger's match was held over to be played on Saturday, February 13. Again, rain forced this match to be deferred.

 

In the Thursday match Eric defeated Jack 25/11.

 

District Bowls

 

The quarter finals of the District Fours at Tathra on Saturday, February 13 were completed despite in entire series of games being played in the rain. The remaining Tura team of Rob Pearsall, Terry Jackson, Lance Lamond and Graham Burton were defeated by Paul Stewart's Merimbula team.

A count back was required to determine the results of the Men's Triples with Eric Heads, Barry Rusling and Joe Bradshaw winning from B Phipps, Eric Joslin and Mike Reynolds after both teams finished with 21 points.
