TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 385
Club Bowls The closing of the bottom green on Monday, December 21 marked the end of another successful year for Tura Beach bowling. Although the Ladies stole the show with their outstanding results in winning the two state flags, the Men’s bowling club can be proud of their year with a winning grade 5 pennant side and the performances of our members in district events and higher levels of competition.
At a time when bowling clubs are struggling to keep their memberships we achieved a small increase. This is in no small way due to the friendly atmosphere of our Club that in turn results from the efforts of our committees and the involvement of our members in the day to day functions of a bowling club.
As President I thank you for another successful year for our Club and wish all our members and our bowling friends a merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year and good bowling in 2010.
Pennant Practice The last pennant practice for the year on Sunday December 20, involved four full teams despite the unavailability of twelve potential players, demonstrating the depth of bowlers that the match committee have to work with in the 2010 pennant season.
Tura Beach will host the annual pre season match against Bermagui on Saturday, January 9 2010. Bowlers not selected in the two teams to play Bermagui will be selected to play in practice matches on the same day.
Social Bowls Wednesday December 16
The last IGA Day for the year resulted in a win to Les Rizzetti, Bill Rogers, Roger Hayes and Campbell Connal by the convincing margin of 2+19. Russell Cook, Peter Wells, Les Firth and Ken Edwards were runners up with the good score of 2+14. The single game winners were Arthur Stove, Alan Buckley, Bob Hart and John O’Donnell with another big score of 1+15.
Thanks again to Tanya and Michael Pearson of the Tura Beach IGA and Alan Brown of the Tura Beach General Store for their continued support.
Friday December 18
Ann and Lance Lamond were the Nominated Pairs winners with 2+ 11 with Barry and Willmar Rusling the single game winners with 1+4. . TJ
