Presentation Day

In a great show of the solidarity between the Lady’s and Men’s Tura Beach Bowling Clubs

the combined Presentation Day on Sunday, December 6 was an enjoyable day with an afternoon game of Mixed Fours followed by a high tea and the presentation of trophies.

Three teams finished on 19 points requiring a three way count back to determine the results. Ted Young, Barbara Collins, Steve Davies and Mike Reynolds won with Jan Duncombe, Win Phillips, Vic Finlay and Jack Findlay runners up.

Special thanks are due to all those members that worked in the origination and preparation required. Their efforts made possible the success of the day.

Mixed Pairs

Pam and Mike Reynolds are the 2009 Mixed Pairs winners after a convincing 28/16 victory over Bev Whiteside and Russell Cook in Saturday’s final.

Bev and Russell started well leading 5/0 after end 2 and held a 6/5 lead after end 6. However a 6 on end 7 shot Pam and Mike to the lead 11/6 and they were never again headed.

Bev and Russell held on being down only 14/16 after end 14 before a devastating finish from Pam and Mike allowed them only 2 shots over the next 6 ends while scoring 12 shots themselves wrapped up the match.

Pennant Practice

The first practice matches for the 2010 pennant season will be held on Saturday, December 12 starting at 12.30 pm. With Tura fielding four grades, 3, 4, 5 and 7 the Match Committee have some sorting out to do and need the cooperation of all intended players.

The teams selected for Saturday are on the board, however it is intended to “mix and match” all available players with everyone given a chance to participate in the matches.

Please inform the Match Committee if you are unavailable. 

Social Bowls

Wednesday December 2

The monthly “Joe’s Special” produced the closest finish for a long time with three teams recording 19 points. The three way count back was won by Barbara Collins (rewarded for filling in at short notice), Eric Heads, Les Firth and Graham Burton. Tony Sawkins, Barry Rayner, David Blake and Russell Cook were the runners up. 

Friday December 4

The Nominated Pairs winners were Val and Ken Edwards with 2+17 Sue Sunderland and Alan Rowlinson the single game winners with 1+13.
