Club Fours

After a series of keenly contested rounds the final of the Club Fours played of Sunday, November 29 went to Dennis Vaughan, Vic Finlay, Graham Burton and Jack Findlay23 defeating Kel Duncombe, Alan Rowlinson, Roger Hayes and Terry Och 17.

The match, played is showery conditions with the threat of a thunder storm was of a very high standard with all players producing some outstanding bowls.

Jack’s team started well leading 12/3 after end 9 before Terry’s team rallied reducing the lead to 15/9 after end 13. With Jack’s team looking comfortable leading 18/9 a three end surge by their opponents saw their lead dwindle to 18/17 with three ends to play.

However, Jack’s team steadied taking the last three ends to win 23/17.

Mixed Pairs

The delayed Quarter Final played on Friday November 27 was won by Pam and Mike Reynolds defeating Shirley Sunderland and Alan Rowlinson. The Reynolds started in top gear running up a commanding lead before Shirley and Alan fought back losing by 6 shots.

Pam and Mike will take on Bev Whiteside and Russell Cook in the event’s final which is to be played on Saturday, December 5.

Presentation Day

Next Sunday, December 6 the annual Presentation Day will be staged at the club. Following a game of Mixed Fours a high tea will be served and the trophies presented. An entry sheet is on the board for the day and also a list for those wishing to attend the high tea and presentations only. Dress is formal for both the bowlers and also those only attending the presentations.

Social Bowls

Wednesday November 25

The Men’s Fours went to the team of Dennis Vaughan, Gary Woods, Peter Hamer (his first game with Tura Beach) and Graham Burton with 23 points. Jon Harrod, Howard Hutton, Don Pope and Mike Reynolds were runners up on 22 points.

Friday November 27

Ross Davies and Peter Wells won the Nominated Pairs with 2+12 with Mavis Taylor and Bill Daniels the single game winners on 1+10.
