TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 382

 

Club Bowls

Mixed Pairs

One semi final match in the Mixed Pairs was played on Saturday, November 21 resulting in a win to Bev Whiteside and Russell Cook over Mary and Les Firth 23/12.Bev and Russell started well and were never headed leading 15/5 after end 12.

 

The delayed Quarter Final played on Thursday, November 19 went to Shirley Sunderland and Alan Rowlinson defeating Carol and Roger Hayes in a match that went down to the last bowl.

 

The second semi final between Pam and Mike Reynolds, and Shirley Sunderland and Alan Rowlinson is to be played this week

 

Club Fours

Sunday, November saw the semi finals of the Club Fours which provided two high standard matches. Dennis Vaughan, Vic Finlay, Graham Burton and Jack Findlay defeated Ray Heron, Steve Davies, Hans Pynenburg and Campbell Connal 24/17. The pattern for the match was set on ends 4 and 5 when after Campbell’s team scored a 5 on end 4 to take the lead 6/5. Jack’s team hit back with a 4 on the next end to regain the lead 9/6 and held the lead for the remainder of the match.

 

 Kel Duncombe, Alan Rowlinson, Roger Hayes and Terry Och18, defeated Tony Sawkins, Barry Rayner, Peter Evans and Bruce Jeffries 15. On the last end and down 15/17 with at least 3 back bowls Bruce’s last bowl, an attempt to trail the kitty to his back bowls missed by a whisker.  

 

Social Bowls

 

Wednesday November 18

This month’s IGA Day resulted in a win to Terry Young, Ray Heron, Hans Pynenburg and Graham Burton with 2+8. Gary Woods, Greg O’Brian, Steve Davies and Eric Joslin were the single game winners on 1+15.

  

Friday November 20

The Nominated Pairs proved to be a day for “Carols” when Carol and Mick Parkinson won the day with 2+6 and Carol and Roger Hayes the single game winners on 1+7.
