Club Bowls

 Bill Daniels is the winner of the Consistency Singles for 2009 after beating Campbell Connal in Saturday afternoon’s final.

 In the mornings Semi-Finals Bill won a hard fought match against Kevin Cox 108/100 with a 9 on the last end after the scores were level 99/99. While Campbell had a comfortable win over Russell Cook 103/88.

Bill, playing off -22 started well with a 6 to Campbell’s, playing off -32, 4 and after end 9 led by 36 to 0. With Bill leading 96/50 after end 20 Campbell rallied picking up 14 shots to go down 104/72.

On Thursday October 15 Tura hosted a visit by The Northern Rivers District Touring Group. This large continuant of eighty plus bowlers are extremely well organised being split in to two groups both of which are “doing the rounds” of the Far South Coast clubs.    

The draw for the first round of the Mixed Pairs to be played next Saturday, October 24 starting 12.30 is on the board, and a reminder that entries for the last championship of the year, the Club Fours close Friday, October 30. 

Club Sapphire Board Elections

Everything is now in place at Tura Beach Country Club and Merimbula-Imlay Bowling Club to enable all members to cast their votes for Sunday’s election. Polling times are from noon until 6.00pm weekdays and from 9.30 am until 3.30 pm on Saturday, October 24.

This year places on the Board are hotly contested with 15 members standing for the 5 positions of Committee Members. Please take the time to support the candidates of your choice by casting your votes.

Social Bowls

Wednesday October 14

The “Joe’s Special” reduced to 18 ends due to rain went to Herb Konkel, Barry Rainer and Barry Brown with 19 points. Runners up on 18 Points were Dennis Vaughan, Eric Maddern and Russell Cook. 

Thursday October 15

The visit by the Northern Rivers District Touring Group resulted Tura teams in first and second spots with Arthur Stove, Win Phillips, Bev Whiteside and Terry Jackson winning with 24 points and L Russell, Margaret Fergusson, Bill Daniels and Dorothy Campbell runners up on 23 points.   

Friday, October 9

The Nominated Pairs went to Wilma Rusling and partner? with 2+9. Kel Duncombe and Graham Burton were runners up on 2+6, with Lorraine and Barry Brown the single game winners on 1+8.
