Club Bowls

 Round one of the Consistency Singles got underway on Saturday, October 4 with 10 matches played resulting in a mix of comfortable wins and cliff-hanger finishers.

Russell Cook 101 defeated Don Fergusson 75. Ron Henkel 104 defeated Alan Buckley79. Ross Davies 104 defeated Arthur Stove 83.Alan Rowlinson 100 defeated Rex Lucas 78. Bill Daniels 104 defeated David Lewis 62. Eric Joslin 109 defeated Ted Young 76. D Manovski 100 defeated Peter Evans 88. Kevin Cox 102 defeated Ken Evans 95. Bob Knight 102 defeated John O’Donnell 101 and in the closest of all Campbell Connal 113 defeated Terry Jackson 109 after two extra ends.

A good sized contingent of Tura bowlers went down the hill to play in the annual Chairman’s Shield at Merimbula on Monday 6.This event brings a mix of both the Ladies and Men bowlers of both the Club Sapphire venues together in an afternoon of social bowling.

This year’s Presidents Shield, an event played over a single round, for nominated teams of triples that draw for opponents provided a complete miss match with the winners Bill Dalton, Ken Edwards and Phil Burns winning 43 shots to 5. Runners up Adriane Blyth, Boyd Campbell and Lance Lamond also were big winners by 38 shots to 17.

These results indicate that a change in the structure of this event should be considered possibly along the lines of the IGA day format. 

Friday, October 2

The first Nominated Pairs of the month went to Tony Sawkins and G Telford with Nancy and Joe Bradshaw the single game winners.
