TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 374
Zone Bowls Champion of Champion Pair
Russell Cook and Les Firth performed extremely well representing the Far South Coast in the Zone play offs of the Champion of Champion Pairs over the weekend. They drew the favourites, Moruya in their first match defeating them convincingly 23/13. Their second match against Lake Conjola went down to the last bowl. With the scores level at 15/15 and Les and Russell holding shot the Lake Conjola skip drew the shot with his last bowl to win the match 16/15.
Congratulations to Russell and Les on a great performance and better luck next time.
Club Bowls Major / Minor Pairs
Gene Dunn and Campbell Connal are the 2009 Major / Minor Pairs winners defeating Kevin Cox and Eric Joslin in the final played on Thursday, September 17.
Kevin and Eric got a fantastic start with a 7 on the first end to lead 7 / -3. However a great run from ends 9 to 13 Gene and Campbell piled on 13 shots to lead 19/11. They were never again headed to win 26/17.
One of Tura Beach’s special events the Quadripartite where teams of two ladies and two men play a series of five games, a Mixed Fours, a Singles, a Mixed Triples and two Mixed Pairs was held on Sunday, September 20.
Only one undefeated team, that of Jim Campbell, Joy Clarke, Ken Edwards, and Dorothy Daniels winning with the maximum 8 points. Lyn Govey’s team were in second place with 7 points from 3 wins and a draw with 5 teams on 6 points from 3 wins, third place going to Gerd Jacobsen’s team on shots up.
Social Bowls Wednesday September 16
The team of Don Pope, Bill Daniels and Pat Quigley won the IGA day with 2+16. Runners up were Mike Reynolds, Bob Hart and Peter Wells on 2+8. The single game winners were Eric Heads, Greg O’Brian and Eric Maddern with1+11.

Friday, September 18 Ann and Lance Lamond won the Nominated Pairs with 2+19 from Brenda Johnson and Shirley Sunderland on 2+8. The single game winners were Els and Conrad DeZwart with 1+11.
