Handicap Singles

Both the semi final matches in the Handicap Singles on Saturday, September 5 were keenly contested with the lead changing several times.

 

Terry Jackson (-10) defeated Russell Cook (-15) 31/22 after 36 ends. Russell started well disposing of his handicap to lead 2/1 after end 6. A 3 on the next end gave the lead briefly to Terry before Russell won 8 of the next 9 ends to lead11/6. The scores were level 12/12 after end 20 and 15/15 after end 23 before Terry won 9 of the next 13 ends to take the match.

 

The other semi final between Lance Lamond (-12) and John Jesina (-10) went to Lance 31/28 after 40 ends. Lance with a 2 on end one wiping the handicap and going to a comfortable lead 17/10 after end 19. John recovered and with the scores level 26/26 after end 36 a 2 on the next end gave him the lead 28/26 and looked to have hit the front at the right end of the match. However, Lance responded winning the next 3 ends and the match.

 

Terry and Lance will play the final on Saturday, September 12.     

 

 Major / Minor Pairs

Major Minor Pairs quarter final played on Thursday, September 3 resulted in wins to Alan Buckley and Greg O’Brian (- 6) over David Blake and Terry Och (-9) 25/19, Barry Rusling and John Jesina (-8) over Don Fergusson and Terry Jackson (-8) 26/14, Kevin Cox and Eric Joslin (-7) over Rex Lucas and Steve Davies (-7) 26/8 and Gene Dunn and Campbell Connal (-10) over Ted Young and Barry Brown (-6) 24/21.  

 

The semi finals will be played on Thursday, September 10.

 

Social Bowls

Wednesday September 2

 

The Wednesday Men’s bowls returned to 23 ends with the end of winter. Arthur Stove, Barry Rayner and Hans Pynenburg won the day with 21 points from Herb Konkel, Allan Buckley and Joe Bradshaw on 20 points.

 

Friday, August 28

Winners of the Nominated Pairs were Willmar and Barry Rusling on 2+10 with M and D Manousk runners up on 2+9. The single game winners were Els and Conrad DeZwart on 1+16.
