Club Bowls

The quarter finals of the Handicap Singles played on Thursday, August 27 provided a high standard of bowling despite windy conditions. Russell Cook (-15) defeated Campbell Connal (-13) 31/12 in 27 ends. John Jesina (-10) defeated Alan Buckley (- 4) 31/20 in 34 ends. Terry Jackson (-10) defeated David Lewis (-12) 31/26 in 37 ends and Pat Quigley forfeited to Lance Lamond.

In semi final matches Russell Cook plays Terry Jackson and Lance Lamond plays John Jesina.  

Saturday, August 29 saw round one of the Major Minor Pairs with the following results, Ted Young and Barry Brown (-6) defeated Ron Henkel and Rob Pearsall (-8) 23/13, Gene Dunn and Campbell Connal (-10) defeated Tony Sawkins and Lance Lamond (-8) 25/22, Don Fergusson and Terry Jackson (-8) defeated Marty Orsborn and Graham Burton (-6) 28/16, Barry Rusling and John Jesina (-8) defeated Terry Brooks and Alan Rowlinson (-5) 17/13, David Blake and Terry Och (-9) defeated Bob Knight and Hans Pynenburg (-8) 28/18, Alan Buckley and Greg O’Brian (- 6) defeated Les Rizzetti and David Lewis (-10) 28/17 and Kevin Cox and Eric Joslin (-7) defeated Bob Hart and Eric Maddern (-11) 19/13. 

Annual General Meeting

The makeup of our Committees for 2009 – 2010 was settled at Sunday’s AGM as follows, Management Committee, President Terry Jackson, Vice President Gary Woods, Secretary Les Firth, Assistant Secretary Kevin Cox, Treasure Eric Joslin, Greens Co-ordinator Don Pope, Committee Terry Och and Tony Sawkins, Welfare Officer Royce Lovett and Publicity Officer Terry Jackson.

Match Committee, Russell Cook Chairman, Mike Reynolds, Campbell Connal, Graham Burton and Gene Dunn.

 All candidates were elected unopposed.

District Bowls

At the AGM of the Far South Coast District held at Tura Beach on Saturday, August 29 seven Tura members were elected to the following positions, Ross Thoburne Patron, Rob Pearsall District Secretary, Jon Harrod District Treasurer, Russell Cook Selection and Match Committees, Mick Johnson, Gene Dunn and Terry Jackson District Umpires Panel. 

Social Bowls

Wednesday August 26

The Triples team of Ted Young, Bob Stewart and Campbell Connal on 21 points won the day on a count back from the Pairs team of B Gilligan and David Lewis.

Friday, August 28

Winners of the Nominated Pairs were Tom Forgett and Eric Maddern with Bev Whiteside and Les Rizzetti runners up. The single game winners were Tony Sawkins and G Telford.
