TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 370

 

Club Bowls

 

The Bob Richardson Memorial Open Triples staged over Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 went to the very strong Merimbula team of Ross Jones, Ken Edwards and Phil Burns winning all four games for the maximum eight points and a margin of 66 shots up. Another Merimbula team, Bill Dalton, Jim Smith and Ray Fox were runners up, also with four wins for eight points and a margin of 35 shots. The Tathra team of Des Ryan, Barry Lemon and Clyde Lemon were placed third with three wins and a draw for seven points and a margin of 16 shots. The best placed Tura team of Steve Davies, Alan Rowlinson and Terry Jackson were in fourth place with three wins for six points and a margin of 34 shots. 

 

Six members of the Richardson clan were in attendance to join with our members in honouring Bob.  

 

Round 2 matches of the Handicap Singles on Thursday, August 13 resulted in wins to Ron Henkel over Don Pope 31/21, Pat Quigley over Graham McGrath-Smith 31/26, Steve Davies over Alan Carswell 31/15, Gary Woods over Tony Sawkins, John Jesina over Bob Knight 31/28 and Lance Lamond over Hans Pynenburg 31/22. 

  

The entries for the Major Minor Pairs close Friday, August 21.

 

 

Social Bowls

Wednesday August 12

 

Dennis Vaughan, M Heard and David Lewis won the triples with 21 points from Arthur Stove, Tony Sawkins and Ray Heron runners up on 19 points.

 

Friday, August 14

 

Winners of the Nominated Pairs were R and D Dennis on 2+16. Els and Conrad DeZwart with 2+11 were runners up with Elma Vaughan and Claire Pynenburg the single game winners on 1+20.
