Club Bowls

This week club events took centre stage with first round matches in the Club Triples and Handicap singles being played at Tura.

In Club Triple matches on Monday, August 3 Bill Daniels, Les Firth and Pat Quigley defeated Gary Woods, Ron Henkel and Alan Rowlinson 31/24. Graeme O’Donnell, Neil Clough and Russell Cook defeated Kevin Cox, David Blake and John Jesina 33/19. Eric Joslin, Ray Herron and Mike Reynolds defeated Steve Davies, Hans Pynenburg and Campbell Connal 18/15. Trevor Mort, Alan Carswell and Barry Brown defeated Tony Sawkins, Royce Lovett and Don Fergusson 33/21 and Gene Dunn, Rob Pearsall and Terry Jackson defeated Arthur Stove, Alan Buckley and John O’Donnell. 

Round 1 and some round 2 matches of the Handicap Singles on Thursday, August 6 resulted in wins to Terry Jackson (-10) over Ray Heron (-9) 31/28, David Lewis (-12) over Eric Joslin (-10) 31/21, Gene Dunn (-7) over Bill Daniels (-9) 31/23, Campbell Connal (-13) over Ken Edwards (-5) 31/23, Russell Cook (-15) over Barry Brown (-9) 31/24, Alan Buckley (-4  over Rex Lucas (-6) 31/15, Terry Och (-11) over Don Fergusson (-7) 31/28, Hue Smithers (-4) over Alan Rowlinson (-10) 31/23 and Trevor Mort (-5) over Ted Young (-4) 31/19.

A second round match, played on Sunday, August 9 went to Trevor Mort 31/28 over Graeme O’Donnell.  

The entry sheet for the Major Minor Pairs, closing Friday, August 21 is on the board.

At the close of nominations for places on the Management and Match Committees on Friday, August 7 the fowling nominations had been received.

Management Committee:- President Terry Jackson, Vice President Gary Woods, Secretary Les Firth, Assistant Secretary Kevin Cox, Treasure Eric Joslin, Greens Coordinator Don Pope, Committeemen Terry Och and Tony Sawkins.

Match Committee:- Russell Cook, Campbell Connal, Graham Burton, Gene Dunn and Mike Reynolds.   

Social Bowls

Wednesday August 5

The monthly Joe’s Special resulted in a win to Alan Buckley, G Harris and Mike Reynolds with 22 points from Kevin Cox, John O’Donnell and N Gribbin runners up on 20 points.
