TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 367 

District Bowls.

On Saturday, July 25 Tura Beach hosted the quarter and semi finals of the Champion of Champion Pairs. The morning’s quarter final, reduced to one match due to withdrawals and a bye, resulted in a win to the Tathra team over their Candelo opponents.

Tura was well represented in the afternoon semi by Les Firth and Russell Cook who recorded a convincing win 23/12 over Merimbula’s Brian Kennedy and Ron Christie.

Tathra recorded their second win of the day defeating Eden 24/8 to setup a “battle of the beaches” in next weekend’s final.

Russell Cook was back in action playing Jamie Reynolds in the Singles Champion of Champion at Tathra on Sunday July 26. However, Jamie proved too good on the day.   

Club Bowls

The draw for the Club Triples is on the board. Please note the first round is set down for Monday, August 3 starting 12.30 pm.

Entry sheets are also on the board for the Handicap Singles closing Friday, July 31 and the Major Minor Pairs closing Friday, August 21.

Nominations for places on the Management and Match Committees are open. The forms, requiring a nominator and a seconder and also the acceptance signed by the nominee are on the board. The election of officers will take place at the AGM on Sunday, August 30.

Social Bowls

Wednesday July 22

The monthly IGA day had the second game reduced to 8 ends due to rain. John Snelling, David Lewis and Peter Wells won the day with 2+ 6 from Rex Lucas, Rob Pearsall and Terry Jackson runners up on 2+4. Bill Daniels, Pat Quigley and Don Pope were the single game winners with 1+16.

Friday, July 24

P Taylor and M Boyd won the Nominated Pairs with 2+11 with Ken and Pat Merrey single game winners on 1+15.
