TURA BEACH MENS BOWLS REPORT No 366

Winter Carnival 2009.

Round 3 of the Mixed Fours on Friday, July 17 wound up a very successful Winter Carnival. Throughout the two weeks not a minute was lost due to rain. Only three teams won events on maximum points with close results the order of the day. And the well attended Carnival Dinner on Thursday proved to be a great night rounding off the two weeks that commenced on Friday July 3 with the pre Carnival barbeque.

Results of the Winter Carnival raffle drawn on Thursday night were Winner Chris Sly. Second prize Margaret Bryan. Third prize C McMullen.

The second Mixed Pairs of the Carnival played over Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 produced the second undefeated winners with the regular visitors, Norm and Barbara Gribbin recording the maximum of 12 points with a margin of +53. Pam Reynolds teamed with son Jamie to finish second on 10 points and a margin of +85 from third placed Kevin and Cheryl Chase with 10 points and a margin of +38.

Staged over Wednesday 15, Thursday 16 and Friday 17 the Mixed Fours rounded off our 23 Winter Carnival. Willmar and Barry Rusling teamed with Claire and Hans Pynenburg recording the third maximum score winning with 12 points and a margin of +63. Another Tura team, Daphne Nagle, Shirley Sunderland, Pat Quigley and Jack Findlay were runners up with 10 points and a margin of +59. In third place were a Tathra connection of Gale Hardingham, and Chris and Jason McGarrity who teamed with Goulburn’s Mick Gray scoring 10 points with a margin of +46.

Special thanks to all the Tura members from the Ladies and Men’s bowling clubs who helped in so many ways, the green staff, the club staff, the Sole Bistro, our sponsors and especially to our visitors for their support, all of witch contributed in the success of the Carnival.
