Winter Carnival 2009.

After the first four events had been completed in this year’s Winter Carnival only a single team remained undefeated, demonstrating the diversity of results obtained when our local and visiting bowlers compete in a friendly sociable competition such as our club promotes.

Sunday, July 5 saw round one of the Ladies Pairs open the Carnival and after three games only one team had recorded three wins. Monday’s second round completed the event with L Mc Bride and G Shipsides winning (for the second year in a row) with 10 points and a margin of + 47 from S Pope and P Fry with 10 points and a margin of + 30 and M Lucas and W Whitehead on 8.9 points and a margin of + 23 in third spot.

On Tuesday, July 7 round one of the Mixed Triples ended with only two teams on the maximum six points. Wednesday’s second round resulted in Mike Reynolds’s team winning with 10 points and a margin of + 35 from B Paterson’s team on 10 points and a margin of + 12 with B Gibben’s team on 9 points and a margin of + 39 in third place.

The first round of the Mixed Pairs (1) on Thursday produced only two undefeated teams. Friday’s second round saw S Davies and L Govey winning with 12 points, the only undefeated team so far in this Carnival, with a margin of 48 from S and R Leon with 10 points and a margin of  +53 and in third place J and J McGrath on 10 points and a margin of +50.
