For the second year running Tura Beach has been rated in Australia's Top 100 Public Access Golf Courses.

Club Sapphire supports 10 separate sporting clubs at two locations (Merimbula and Tura), covering the sports of lawn bowls, golf, tennis and carpet bowls.

Tura's Week of Golf a great success

Popular local golfer Scott Deveril won the 36 hole RBS Morgans Tura Beach Open with a score of 155, edging out Cootamundra's Brent Lange on 156. Gary Cook claimed third spot on 158.

After a rather indifferent round of 81 in the opening round, which included a 5 and a 6 on two front nine par 3's, Deveril stormed home with a 34 over the last nine holes on Sunday to snatch victory. The turning point was his eagle 3 on the par 5 2nd hole (the 11th of his round) when he finally caught Cook, who double bogeyed the hole in a four shot swing.

At the Board meeting of 5 January 2011 the Board accepted the Course Management Committee's recommendation of:

1. That the professional remove five carts from in front of the pro shop to the cart parking bay
2. That the area under the building be line marked so as to maintain orderly parking of carts
3. That the area in front of the pro shop also be line marked for the exclusive use of members (this should allow parking for approx 12 carts)
4. That the bollard at the east end of the club house be removed to allow members to do a "U" turn if there is no parking spaces under the building.
5. That the remainder of the professional's carts be stored as is.
6. That golf members be advised that they can store their golf equipment in the buggy store adjacent to the pro shop if desired.
7. All members with golf carts are advised of this resolution.
8. That management strictly police the "NO CART PARKING" adjacent to the BBQ area and the bowling greens.
9. The existing form detailing the conditions of use of private carts be updated to reflect current rules.
