Tura Beach Open
On Saturday the 22nd May & Sunday 23rd May was the Tura Beach Open. This is a stroke event and is played over 2 days. This event has scratch winners for each grade & handicap winners for each grade. The overall Tura Open winner for 2010 was Matt Skiperdene from Yowani Country Club. Matt had a 72-74 total 146 to beat local player Scott Deveril 76-71 total 147. B Grade Scratch winner was Brad Foster and the runner up was Chiffa High. C Grade scratch winner was Kim Smith and the runner up was Geoff Hewat.
134 players teed off on the Saturday. The Daily winners for Saturday were:
Scott Deveril had an Eagle on the 16th hole and Darren Miller on the 18th. Ball winners went to 78 on a c/b. On Sunday the 23rd the winners were:

86 players. The outstanding winner playing in the last group of the day was Leon Blacker an A Grader playing off a Handicap of 10, Leon came in with a fabulous score of 43 points. Leon is also an apprentice green keeper with the club; it must be a great feeling to play so well on a course you work so hard to maintain in such good condition. The B Grade winner was Brian Rennie with 43 points. The C Grade winner was Mick Johnson with 37 points on a c/b. Runners up were: A grade: Paul Goodwin 36 points; B Grade: Gerd Jacobsen 41 points; C Grade: Noel McParland 37 points c/b. 3rd places were: A Grade: John Muir 35 points; B Grade: Dennis Valentine 40 points; C Grade: Arthur Laidlaw 37 points. Ball winners went to 33 on a countback. Wednesday 19 May - Ladies' Single Stableford58 ladies participated. A Grade winner was Myriam Van Hock 39 points. B Grade winner was Barbara Jensen 34 points. C Grade winner was Nanette Home 42 points. Runners up were: A Grade: Sharon Senior 38 points; B Grade: Joan Donaldson 33 points c/b; C Grade: Pam Davidson 38 points. 3rd place: A Grade: Donna Mayberry 36 points; B Grade Mara Roberts 33 points; C Grade: Elke Nemeth 37 points c/b. Ball winners went to 31 on a countback. Thursday 20 May - 4 Person Ambrose Medley
88 players took part in this event and quite a few good scores were achieved. The winners were; Paul Davison, Edwin Davidson, Dan Ellis and Rohan Arnold with a nett score of 577/8. Runners up: Tim Hill, Gerd Jacobsen, David Suckling and Mike Channon with a nett score of 58. Third place; Vic Nun, Don Burke, Denis Pears and Joy Pears with a nett score of 581/8 nett. Fourth Place; Leigh Bedford, Steve Warner, Alan Rowlinson and Fred Sunderland with a nett score of 58¼ on a countback. Ball winners went to 593/8. Friday 21 May - 4BBB Stableford Medley136 players took part in this team event with quite a few visitors from the High Country taking part. The Winners were Brian Davidson and Trevor Stannus with 49 points. Runners up: Arthur Laidlaw & Ian MacNicol with 47 points c/b. Third place: Geoff Jenson and Greg Lasker with 47 points c/b. Fourth place: Robert Slapp & Colin Slade with 47 points c/b. Fifth place: P Shaw and D Milczarek (Gold Creek) with 47 points. Sixth place: Bob Marsh & Lorraine Marsh with 46 points c/b. Ball winners went to 42 points c/b.
