Bega Valley Senior's Golf - Monday 17 May 2010
Tuesday, 18 May 2010 17:29

From left, President Ian Esdaile, left, congratulates the overall winner John Jacobsen. Also offering congratulations is Club Captain Reg HartMonday was a fine and warm autumn day and 80 golfers from the seniors hit off at the magnificent Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club for the fourth game of the year.

The course as usual was in pristine condition with lush fairways and great greens; it is worth the walk around this great course just to see the kangaroos grazing on the side of the fairways and hear and see the bird life.  This atmosphere must have rubbed off on the players as the scoring was really great for most of them.

The overall winner on the day with a fine score of 40 points was John Jacobsen.  Division 1 winner was John Muir with 39 points. Division 3 winner was Robert Nesbit with 39 point who won on countback from Chiffa High.  The other respective runners up were Phil Jackson 38 points and Lance Weir 39 points.  The ball countdown showed that the scoring was great with the ball countdown only going to 36 points on a countback.  Closest to the pin was Bob Mackay.

Bega Valley Seniors Golf President Ian Esdaile welcomed all members and thanked them for attending; he also thanked Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club for the use of their great facilities, and the Golf Pro Shop for collecting the fees and getting the various groups off in time.  He also congratulated the ground staff for having the course in such magnificent condition.  He also commented on members putting their name on the time sheet but failing to turn up to play, he urged all to keep Captain, Reg Hart (6495 9436) informed of any changes to playing plans.

Captain Reg then formally proclaimed the day's results, and with the usual helpers distributed the prizes.

The next senior's golf day is at the Tathra Country Club on Monday, 21st June 2010.
